Default Rep Reset

Overview

Default Rep Reset restores a selected component to a clean Default Design View Representation state. Use it when a component has accumulated visibility changes and appearance overrides and you want to return to a known baseline.

Compared to Default Rep, which primarily switches the active design view representation, Default Rep Reset also removes overrides so the component’s Default representation behaves as expected.

How It Works

  • Prompts you to select a component occurrence.
  • Restores the component’s Default design view representation by:
    • Making all components and Content Center components visible.
    • Removing appearance overrides.
    • Updating the document so the graphics reflect the reset state.

Usage Instructions

  1. Open your assembly in Inventor.
  2. Select the component to reset (or follow the command prompt if it requests selection).
  3. Click Default Rep Reset in the Configure panel.
  4. Review the component view state and continue modeling or preparing drawings.

Troubleshooting

  • View didn’t reset: Confirm you selected the intended component occurrence and that it is not suppressed or read-only.
  • Overrides still appear: Overrides can exist at higher assembly levels (parent representations/overrides). Review visibility and appearance settings at the parent level if needed.
  • Some items remain hidden: A rule may be actively controlling visibility; check component rules if visibility changes keep reapplying.

Examples

Restore a cluttered assembly view: Clear visibility and appearance overrides after extensive modeling.

Prepare for drawing creation: Reset the view so all components/content center parts are visible before creating drawing views.

Standardize components: Reset multiple components that have drifted into inconsistent view states.
